An engagement session with cats. For real guys… all the cats at the Dutchess County SPCA in Hyde Park New York and it was so adorable.
I have known Emily’s dad for far longer than she probably realizes. Emily’s Dad and I met in 2003 when I was fresh out of undergrad and had just finished my EMT training and was working for a commercial ambulance company while I was doing my graduate degree in NYC. He is still a firefighter at the same station where we met and has been my most trusted friend over the past six years. He has installed every car seat for my children into our vehicles as I simply did not trust anyone else. We aren’t friends in the traditional sense in that we don’t hang out on the weekends or talk for hours by phone, but you know, friends that will have your back if you need something. So you can imagine how honored I was when he asked me for information when Emily was engaged and wedding planning had begun!
While I was meeting with Emily, Steaphen (her fiance) and her mom to talk about all things photography for her wedding, Emily wasn’t really sure if she wanted to do an engagement session. Her mom championed her to do one, and to the engagement session with cats! I mean, how cool is that?! So, Emily works for the Dutchess County SPCA. Every year they rescue hundreds of stranded cats, kittens, dogs and puppies and medically rehabilitate them, then offer them for adoption to families who want furbabies. We went to their adoption facility in Hyde Park NY and played with kittens and cats, all available for adoption (at the time) and then went outside for a few moments to capture a little bit of just Emily and Steaphen.
If you’re thinking of adopting a pet and you live in the Hudson Valley, Emily and Steaphen would love for you to head over to the Dutchess County SPCA in Hyde Park NY to consider one of the animals there! #adoptdontshop
